Roll Profile / Roll Crown Measurement: Measurement of Diameter Variation of a cylinder.

Portable roll profiling systems (sometimes called saddle mic, saddle micrometer, roll calipers, roll micrometer, straddle mic) are used to measure the diameter variation of rolled, turned or ground objects.

Typical applications include:  Mill Roll Grinding (to confirm grinding accuracy), Roll Wear Measurements,  Roll Thermal Expansion Profiles.

Rolled metal sheets, textile, paper rubber can also be measured.
